Users of older Socket 5 & 7 based PC's can still upgrade to the Pentium MMX even though their systems can not run a genuine Pentium MMX. To do this they use the Intel Pentium Upgrade with MMX. This will give users of Pentiums from 75 to 166 MHz the opportunity to upgrade to P200 MMX power. This upgrade is not cheap, but may be a good investment for owners of lower powered Pentium systems. The Processor Emporium can only recommend this upgrade path to owners of lower powered Pentium systems. Machines running from 75 to 133 MHz should only be considered as realistic upgrade options. Machines faster than P133 will not benefit greatly from this upgrade, and the inclusion of MMX instructions is of minimal relevance to PC users.
The performance of systems based upon this Overdrive chip will be similar to those running the Intel Pentium MMX,
and users will gain all the benefits that this CPU brings with it.
